Since December, the processing pace of this season is behind last season. In the new figures from the Association for the Potato Processing Industry (Vavi) for April, this trend is not broken.
In April, Dutch factories processed 331,400 tons of potatoes. That is almost 15,000 tons less than April last year. The processing in April was almost equal to March when 332,700 tons were processed. With 129,900 tons, or 39.2%, a relatively large amount of potatoes came from abroad. Last year, 121,700 tons were imported, accounting for 35.2% of the total processing.
In the Dutch industry, 149,000 tons of pre-fried fries and 28,900 tons of other products were produced in April. The processing efficiency was relatively high in April at 53.7%. The five-year average for this month is 52.3%.
