FrieslandCampina aims to double in the UK by 2030

May 2, 2024 - Klaas van der Horst

FrieslandCampina wants to double its turnover in the United Kingdom within 5 years. This is what UK and Ireland director Will Jones says in an interview with the magazine The Grocer. FrieslandCampina does not have production in the UK, but mainly exports from the Netherlands and Belgium.

Last year, FrieslandCampina achieved sales of around €175 million in the UK, Jones reports. This should increase to at least €350 million. The United Kingdom is not a very large market, but it is a nearby market where growth can also be achieved, a spokesperson explains. "We want to make ourselves more visible there."

Currently, FrieslandCampina is mainly known in the UK with brands like Chocomel and Yazoo, but it also sees good growth opportunities for products like Tenderlish (Valess) and The Barrista Co. The increased focus on the British market is accompanied by the relocation of the sales team from an older office to a new building near London Victoria Station.

Other dairy companies are also looking at the British market with new interest. The domestic dairy farming does not produce enough to meet the demand. Therefore, the British market is also interesting for Irish dairy, which has been present there for a long time, for Arla and Müller, but also for a company like Fonterra.
