Cheese manufacturer St. Paul acquires Royal ERU

April 2, 2024 - By our team of market reporters

Cheese manufacturer St. Paul announces the acquisition of Royal ERU. This follows the strategic partnership established between both manufacturers of cheese spreads. The acquisition is subject to approval by the Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM).

Earlier, the shareholders of both companies reached an agreement, but the companies had already been collaborating. In 2023, they jointly decided to acquire the cheese melting activities of Kasi Food. The employees then joined ERU's facility in Woerden.

St. Paul indicates that it will gain a very strong position. The company, already self-proclaimed market leader, further solidifies its position. It expands its portfolio with a wide range of products in both the Dutch consumer market and internationally. Following the acquisition, the company will even become the largest cheese melting producer in the Benelux, as CEO Dieter Kuijl stated in a press release.
