At the piglet market, not much has changed compared to last week, but the price drop is slowing down. Vion has postponed the publication of the weekly price index for pigs by one day on the pig market.
In the Netherlands, there are still plenty of piglets in relation to demand. The demand among pork farmers at home and abroad is lukewarm, which is further reinforced this week by reduced trading activities due to Whit Monday. However, the demand for price reductions from the trade is decreasing. This is mainly due to more positive signals from the pig market that is showing signs of improvement.
Vion
Normally, Vion announces the pig price on Tuesdays in broken weeks like this, but this week it has been moved to Wednesday. This could also indicate that prices may start to move, especially since the meat market is picking up considerably. At the same time, the German Internet exchange weakened somewhat today, so an increase in the pig market is not a foregone conclusion.
