Vion to determine pig price later in the week

December 27, 2024 - Wouter Baan

Vion will now announce the Dutch pig price on Wednesday instead of the usual Monday. This means that the next publication moment will be postponed due to the New Year.

The reason for this decision is the increasing volatile market conditions, according to the commentary of the meat company. Last week (week 52), the pig price at the slaughterhouse decreased by €0.03 to €1.75 per kilo.

By shifting the publication moment of the pig price, Vion aligns with other Dutch slaughterhouses that also report on Wednesdays. The German pig price (VEZG) is also announced on Wednesdays.
